Pharmacodynamics

The active substance (gabapentin) of the preparation Gababamma 300 is similar in structure to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid, but the mechanism of its action is completely opposite to the drugs acting on the GABA receptors. A detailed study of the principle of action of the active substance revealed that gabapentin does not have GMACergic properties (unlike other antiepileptics - valproate, barbiturates), and its effect is to bind calcium subunits in this way by reducing the flow of calcium ions and neutralizing neuropathic pain . Also gabapentin increases the amount of gamma amino-butyric acid, reduces damage and death of neurons, suppresses the release of neurotransmitters of the monoamine group.

Pharmacokinetics

Peak concentrations of the drug Gababamma 300 in blood plasma accounted for 2-3 hours. A decrease in the absorption of gabapentin with increasing dosage was noted (at a typical therapeutic dosage, its absorbability is approximately 60%). The dependence of excretion of the drug Gababamma 300 on the dosage used was not detected and it is approximately 5-7 hours. Excretion of the drug is carried out by the kidneys in a completely unchanged form. Absorption of the active substance gabapentin does not depend on the consumption of food, fats and other types of nutrients. In the human blood, namely plasma, gabapentin is contained in a free state. The rate of removal of the drug from the blood plasma depends on the clearance of creatinine. This is why it is necessary to carefully prescribe the drug Gababammma to 300 people in old age and to persons with chronic or acute failure of kidney function.
