Indications Flucostat from thrush
Indications for Flucostat are:
- vaginal candidiasis (thrush in women);
- Candidiasis balanitis (thrush in men);
- candidiasis infections of any localization (invasive and non-invasive);
- cryptococcosis (cryptococcal meningitis, cryptococcosis of the lungs, skin, mucous membranes, etc. (including acquired immunodeficiency syndrome);
- cutaneous mycoses;
- onychomycosis;
- pityriasis lichen;
- coccidiomycosis and paracoccidiomycosis;
- sporotrichosis;
- histoplasmosis.
The drug can be used to prevent fungal infections in cancer patients after a course of radiation or chemotherapy.
Release form
Flucostat is available in two forms: in capsulated form and as a solution for parenteral use. Capsule from thrush Flucostat can contain 50 mg (7 pieces per pack) or 150 mg fluconazole (1 capsule per pack).
The solution is packaged in 50 ml bottles (one bottle in the package).
Such forms as tablets from thrush Flucostat and suppository from the dairy flukostat are not produced by manufacturers of this drug.
Pharmacodynamics
The antifungal therapeutic effect of this drug is provided by its active substance fluconazole-α- (2,4-difluorophenyl) -alpha- (1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl) -1H-1,2,4-triazol-1 -ethanol, which is a derivative of an aromatic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic triazole compound.
The pharmacodynamics of Flucostat from thrush is based on its selective inhibition of sterol production and the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol in the cells of the fungi of the genus Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Microsporum spp., Coccidioides immitis, Trichophyton spp., Histoplasma capsulatum, Blastomyces dermatitidis.
Pharmacokinetics
When taking the medicine inside, the active substance is absorbed for a short time in the digestive tract and then gets into all biological fluids, including blood and cerebrospinal fluid, as well as in all layers of the skin. At the same time, only about 12% of the active substance of the drug binds to plasma proteins. Biological accessibility is high - 90%.
Half of the taken Flucostat is excreted from the body after 30 hours. Up to 80% of the drug is not metabolized and is excreted unchanged - through the kidneys, with urine.
Dosing and administration
Method of using capsules from thrush Flucostat - inside, regardless of food intake, once a day. Usually adults with cryptococcal infections and invasive candidiasis are prescribed 400 mg on the first day of treatment and until the end of the course of therapy at 200 mg per day.
In the case of thrush (vaginal candidiasis) in women, as well as thrush (candidiasis balanitis) in men, the capsule from the thrush Flucostat (150 mg) is taken once, and to prevent relapses it is recommended to take one capsule (150 mg) once a month for at least half a year.
Dosage for adults with candidal infections of mucous membranes - 1-2 capsules of 50 mg per day; the duration of taking the drug is from 2 to 4 weeks.
In skin mycoses and onychomycosis, the dose of Flucostat for adults is 1 capsule (150 mg) once a week or 50 mg once a day. The course of treatment can last 14, 28 or 42 days.
The dose of medication (in the form of capsules) for children is determined on the basis of body weight: from 3 mg to 12 mg per kilogram.
Method of application Flucostat solution - intravenous infusion (with dilution with glucose solution, Ringer's solution, potassium chloride solution in glucose). In candidiasis, 50-100 mg of the drug is administered per day, and the course of treatment is administered up to 28 days.
In cryptococcal infections, 400 mg of Flucostat solution is administered on the first day, then the dose is reduced to 200 mg per day.
To prevent fungal diseases during chemotherapy and irradiation of malignant tumors, the daily dose of Flucostat is 50 mg. In pediatrics, the dosage of the solution of this drug depends on the weight of the child: 6-12 mg per day per kilogram of body weight.

Use Flucostat from thrush during pregnancy
The drug penetrates into all body fluids, so use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended and is only permissible in exceptional cases when a fungal infection threatens the life of a pregnant woman.
Contraindications
Flukostata from thrush is contraindicated with intolerance of the drug and other triazole compounds; in the presence of a history of heart attacks related to the syndrome of short QT interval, and taking medications for its lengthening; children under three years.
The medication requires caution in appointing patients with chronic liver and kidney pathologies, cardiac arrhythmia and alcohol dependence.
The presence of lactose in the capsule makes it impossible to assign it to persons with lactose intolerance and the syndrome of impaired intestinal absorption (malabsorption) of galactose.
Side effects Flucostat from thrush
Possible side effects of Flukostat from thrush are manifested in the form of: headache, dizziness, seizures, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, pain in the stomach and abdominal cavity, reducing or stopping the secretion of bile, jaundice, liver disorders and hepatotoxic symptoms increased levels of enzymes and bilirubin, inflammation of the liver tissue and its necrosis), violations of ventricular contraction (prolongation of the QT interval), anaphylactic shock, alopecia.

Overdose
Fluxostat from thrush leads to more severe manifestations of side effects of the drug, as well as to the occurrence of hallucinations. In case of exceeding the dose of Flucostat in capsules, it is necessary to wash the stomach and take enterosorbent. If the content of the drug in the blood plasma is significantly exceeded, diuretics or hemodialysis may be needed.
Interactions with other drugs
Application together with coumarin anticoagulants increases the clotting time of blood, therefore prothrombin time control is necessary.
In non-insulin-dependent diabetes, the simultaneous administration of Flucostat and the sugar-reducing drugs of the sulfonylurea-derived group delays them in the blood, which can lead to severe hypoglycemia.
It is inadmissible simultaneous use of Flukostat from thrush and H1-antihistamine medicines - piperidine derivatives. Simultaneous reception of a sedative midazolam can lead to psychomotor effects, and in combination Flukostat with immunosuppressive drug tacrolimus increases the risk of toxic kidney damage.
