Indications for Flucostat are:

  • histoplasmosis.

The drug can be used to prevent fungal infections in cancer patients after a course of radiation or chemotherapy.

Release form

Flucostat is available in two forms: in capsulated form and as a solution for parenteral use. Capsule from thrush Flucostat can contain 50 mg (7 pieces per pack) or 150 mg fluconazole (1 capsule per pack).

The solution is packaged in 50 ml bottles (one bottle in the package).

Such forms as tablets from thrush Flucostat and suppository from the dairy flukostat are not produced by manufacturers of this drug.

Pharmacodynamics

The antifungal therapeutic effect of this drug is provided by its active substance fluconazole-α- (2,4-difluorophenyl) -alpha- (1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl) -1H-1,2,4-triazol-1 -ethanol, which is a derivative of an aromatic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic triazole compound.

The pharmacodynamics of Flucostat from thrush is based on its selective inhibition of sterol production and the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol in the cells of the fungi of the genus Candida spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, Microsporum spp., Coccidioides immitis, Trichophyton spp., Histoplasma capsulatum, Blastomyces dermatitidis.

Pharmacokinetics

When taking the medicine inside, the active substance is absorbed for a short time in the digestive tract and then gets into all biological fluids, including blood and cerebrospinal fluid, as well as in all layers of the skin. The dose of medication (in the form of capsules) for children is determined on the basis of body weight: from 3 mg to 12 mg per kilogram.

Method of application Flucostat solution - intravenous infusion (with dilution with glucose solution, Ringer's solution, potassium chloride solution in glucose). In candidiasis, 50-100 mg of the drug is administered per day, and the course of treatment is administered up to 28 days.

In cryptococcal infections, 400 mg of Flucostat solution is administered on the first day, then the dose is reduced to 200 mg per day.

To prevent fungal diseases during chemotherapy and irradiation of malignant tumors, the daily dose of Flucostat is 50 mg. In pediatrics, the dosage of the solution of this drug depends on the weight of the child: 6-12 mg per day per kilogram of body weight.

Use Flucostat from thrush during pregnancy

The drug penetrates into all body fluids, so use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended and is only permissible in exceptional cases when a fungal infection threatens the life of a pregnant woman.

Contraindications

Application together with coumarin anticoagulants increases the clotting time of blood, therefore prothrombin time control is necessary.
