Fenules baby is an anti-anemic medicine that is taken by mouth. Included in the group of drugs 3-valent iron.

Indications Fenulas baby

It is used in case of anemia of iron deficiency nature (iron deficiency or hidden by clinical symptoms), and also to prevent the development of iron deficiency with an increased need for this element (breastfeeding, pregnancy, and also intensive growth in adolescents or donation).

Release form

The release of the drug is implemented in the form of oral drops.

Pharmacodynamics

The iron contained in hemoglobin helps transport oxygen inside the tissues. Enough iron is required for effective erythropoiesis processes. The drug contains iron in the form of a polymaltose 3-valent iron hydroxide complex. This complex of macromolecules is stable inside the gastrointestinal tract and does not secrete iron in the form of free-type ions.

Fenulas Baby is similar in structure to the natural compound of iron - a component of ferritin. This similarity allows the gland (type III) to pass from the intestine into the blood through active absorption. It is this ability of the drug that explains the impossibility of intoxication with them, which distinguishes it from ordinary iron salts, the absorption of which is carried out in accordance with the gradient of therapeutic concentration.

Absorbed iron is stored in standard form with ferritin - mostly inside the liver. Further, inside the bone marrow, it is part of the hemoglobin. Iron, which is an integral part of the iron (type III) -polymaltose complex, does not possess the prooxidant effect inherent in standard iron salts (type II).

Pharmacokinetics

Iron absorption mainly occurs inside the duodenum. Peak values of absorption are observed when the substance is consumed on an empty stomach. The degree of iron absorption increases in those conditions that are characterized by a lack of iron.

The complex of polymaltose with iron shows bioavailability values comparable to the level of bioavailability of fumarate salts and ferrous sulfate in therapeutic as well as physiological portions.

Dosing and administration

Dosage sizes and duration of therapy are determined by the degree of iron deficiency, weight and age of the patient. The daily portion is allowed to be taken as a one-time, and in several uses.

Clinically pronounced iron deficiency dosage portions:

  • premature babies - 1-2 drops / kg daily, for 3-5 months;
  • children under the age of 12 months - 10-15 drops per day;
  • children aged 1-12 years - 20-30 drops of drugs per day;
  • adolescents from 12 years old and adults - 40-120 drops of medication per day;
  • pregnant women - 80-120 drops of substance per day.

The duration of the therapeutic cycle with clinical severity of iron deficiency should be at least 2 months. In such cases, the stabilization of hemoglobin indices is observed after 2-3 months after the start of therapy. To restore the internal reserves, the medication is taken in prophylactic portions for several months.

Portion mode with latent iron deficiency:

  • babies up to 12 months - 6-10 drops of drugs per day;
  • children aged 1-12 years old - 10-20 drops of the drug per day;
  • adolescents over 12 years old and adults 20-40 drops of a substance per day;
  • pregnant women - 20-40 drops of the drug per day (should start from the 14th week of pregnancy, with 2-week intervals in the application).

Prophylactic servings for iron deficiency:

  • infants up to 12 months of age - 2-4 drops of a substance per day;
  • children of the age range of 1-12 years - 4-6 drops of drugs per day;
  • adults and teenagers from 12 years old - 4-6 drops of the drug per day;
  • pregnant - 4-6 drops of the drug per day.
