Indications Emoxipine
Eye drops are used for the following disorders:
- hemorrhages occurring inside the eyes;
- thrombosis formed inside the central vein of the retina, as well as its branches;
- glaucoma;
- to protect the retina after laser coagulation procedures, and also from high-intensity light (for burns caused by laser or sunlight).
Using the medicine in the form of injections:
- diabetic retinopathy;
- myopathy with complications;
- chorioretinal forms of central type dystrophy.
At the same time, injections can be administered in acute or chronic forms of cerebral circulation disorders (provided that they arose due to ischemic or hemorrhagic disorders). If necessary, the drug can be administered intramuscularly or intravenously.
Release form
The drug is released in the form of a solution, in ampoules with different dosages. Each individual pack of the drug contains 5 such ampoules, the dosage size of which is indicated on the box.
It is also produced in the form of eye drops – in 5 ml bottles equipped with a pipette.

Pharmacodynamics
The drug reduces the blood viscosity index, reduces the tendency to hemorrhages, and strengthens vascular membranes. At the same time, the active elements of the drug increase the indices of cyclic nucleotides contained inside the brain tissue and blood platelets.
The fibrinolytic effect of the drug is manifested by the fact that during an exacerbation of a heart attack, its use promotes the expansion of coronary vessels, which allows limiting the size of the area where necrosis develops. At the same time, the contractile and conductive functions of the heart are improved.
In the form of an ophthalmological element, the drug has a retinoprotective effect, protecting the retina from high-intensity light rays. Thanks to the drops, hemorrhages occurring inside the eyes are absorbed, and microcirculation processes are improved.
The drug has a positive effect on blood clotting - by reducing the overall coagulation index and the process of platelet aggregation, Emoxipin prolongs the period of blood clotting. Cellular and vascular membranes are stabilized under the influence of the drug, erythrocytes increase their resistance to hemolysis and possible mechanical damage.
The medicine effectively slows down free-radical processes of lipid oxidation inside biomembranes. It also increases the activity of enzymes that provide antioxidant effects and has a hypolipidemic effect by weakening the processes of triglyceride binding.
The use of the drug reduces the symptoms of cerebral hemodysfunction. It also has a positive effect on the resistance of the cerebral cortex to hypoxia with ischemia, and in addition, corrects the vegetative dysfunctions that occur with circulatory disorders inside the brain.
The drug has pronounced cardioprotective properties. It provides protection of the cardiovascular system in case of myocardial damage of an ischemic nature: the drug blocks the spread of damage.
Pharmacokinetics
With intravenous injection of the drug in a dose of 10 mg/kg, an extremely low level of half-elimination of the substance is observed. In this case, the elimination constant is 0.041 minutes. The size of the apparent distribution volume is 5.2 l, and the level of total clearance is 214.8 ml/minute.
Emoxipin quickly penetrates into tissues and organs, where metabolic processes take place.
Its pharmacokinetic parameters change depending on the patient's condition. For example, in case of coronary occlusion, which has a painful form, the rate of excretion of the drug decreases, which increases its bioavailability.
When administered retrobulbarly, the active components of the drug are almost immediately noted in the blood, stably remaining in large quantities for 2 hours. But after 24 hours of use, almost no traces of the drug remain in the blood. Certain indicators of the drug are also preserved in the eye tissue.
Dosing and administration
Scheme of application of the medicine in the form of drops.
With the retrobulbar method of drug administration, a 1% solution should be used in a 0.5 ml portion - it is administered once a day for 10-15 days. When using the solution parabulbar or subconjunctivally, 0.2-0.5 ml of the substance is administered once a day for 10-30 days.
If it is necessary to protect the retina, the drug should be administered retrobulbarly in a dose of 0.5 ml/day 60 minutes before the laser coagulation procedure. The duration of therapy is determined by the severity of the burns that occurred during laser coagulation. Drops are often used once a day for 2-10 days.
Use of the drug in the form of an injection liquid.
In neurological and cardiological disorders, the medication is usually administered intravenously through a dropper - at a rate of 20-40 drops/minute. The portion size is 20-30 ml of a 3% substance. Droppers are allowed to be administered 1-3 times a day for 5-15 days. The duration of such a course is determined by the form of pathology.
After completing the course of IVs, the patient is transferred to intramuscular injections - 3-5 ml of a 3% solution, which is administered 2-3 times a day. The course of intramuscular injections lasts 10-30 days.
Use Emoxipine during pregnancy
Emoxipin is prohibited for use in pregnant women.
Contraindications
Contraindication is hypersensitivity to the elements of the therapeutic agent.
Should be administered with caution to breastfeeding mothers (only if indicated).
Side effects Emoxipine
The use of the drug may cause certain side effects: a feeling of excitement, which is quickly replaced by a feeling of drowsiness. Rashes and an increase in blood pressure may also appear. Local symptoms include pain, burning, itching, redness and compaction in the area of the paraorbital tissues.
Overdose
In case of poisoning with the drug, the development of reactions indicated among the side effects or their intensification is noted. As a result of overdose, there may be an increase in blood pressure, the development of strong excitability or a feeling of drowsiness, as well as the appearance of headaches or heart pain, nausea and abdominal discomfort. The blood clotting process may also be disrupted.
To eliminate the disorders, the use of the drug should be discontinued, and then, if necessary, symptomatic procedures should be carried out.

Analogues
Analogues of the drug are such drugs as Emoksibel with Emoksi-Optic, and also Emoksipin-AKOS and Methylethylpyridinol-Eskom.
Reviews
Emoxipin has a high efficiency of medicinal action. The only disadvantage of the drug is the development of severe local irritation when using it. Patients who have treated severe ophthalmological pathologies respond to the drug exclusively positively, because due to the seriousness of the disease they have to use it, strictly following the instructions and recommendations of the doctor, and also because they have no choice but to use it, despite the irritation. But in the case of its use for less complex disorders, reviews of the drops are already variable: this is due to the fact that not every patient is ready to tolerate the burning sensation that occurs after using the drug.
Doctors speak about the drops exclusively positively. The medicine perfectly eliminates disorders, although it leads to temporary discomfort in those being treated.
Injections of the drug cope well with the consequences of heart attacks, as well as strokes. At the same time, the medicine helps to quickly reduce the severity of symptoms of various neurological disorders. That is why the drug receives a large number of positive reviews from both patients and doctors.
