Elozon is a dermatological drug from the category of active corticosteroids (group III).

Indications of the elozon

It is used to eliminate the itching and inflammation that occurs with various dermatoses and can be treated with corticosteroids: in psoriasis (except for its plaque common form), and in addition for atopic dermatitis.

Release form

Release of the drug is in the form of a cream, in a tube that has a volume of 30 g. Inside the pack - 1 tube with cream.

Pharmacodynamics

Mometasone furoate is an artificial SCS used locally. The substance has anti-inflammatory, antiexudative, and antipruritic properties.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetic tests demonstrated that the systemic absorption of 0.1% drug during local treatment is minimal. About 0.4% of the portion of the drug is excreted from the body for 72 hours after the treatment of the skin with cream.

It is almost impossible to determine the type of metabolic products, because too little amount of a drug element is found inside the excreta and blood plasma.

Dosing and administration

In the treatment should be a thin layer of cream to treat the affected parts of the skin. The procedure must be carried out once per day. The duration of this course depends on the course of the pathology and the degree of its severity, so it is selected for each patient individually.

If it is necessary to treat the skin with a cream on the face, it is necessary to limit oneself to minimal portions of the medicine, and the duration of such a course can be a maximum of 5 days.

Use of the elozon during pregnancy

There is only limited information on the use of Elozon in pregnant women. It was not possible to prove that the drug is completely safe for pregnant women.

Use of the drug is recommended only with the permission of the treating doctor in situations where the likelihood of benefit from its use is higher than the risk of the fetus having negative consequences. The cream is used in minimal portions and in a short period of time. It should avoid the use of drugs on large areas of the skin.

With lactation, a medication can only be prescribed by a doctor.

There is no information as to whether the GCS is capable of leading to a significant systemic absorption of drugs during local application to detect a drug component within the mother's milk.

The cream is prescribed to nursing mothers only after a thorough assessment of the benefits and risks of its use. When used in large portions or over a long period of time, breastfeeding should be discarded.

Overdose

With too prolonged use of local SCS, the oppression of the system, including the pituitary gland, hypothalamus and adrenal glands, can occur, and in addition, the development of adrenal insufficiency is secondary (often it can be cured).

When suppressing the function of this system, it is necessary to increase the time intervals between treatment procedures, use a SCS with less activity, or stop using Elozon.

Because the level of steroid substance in the drug is extremely low, with the inadvertent ingestion of the cream, the toxic effect will be almost invisible or not manifest at all.

Storage conditions

Elozon is required to be kept in a place that is closed from access by young children. The temperature index is maximum 30 ° C.

Shelf life

Elozon is allowed to be used for 3 years from the date of manufacture of the medicament.

Application for children

For children under 2 years of age, the medication can only be used with the permission of the doctor.

Due to the fact that the child has a proportion between the area of the dermal surface and the weight greater than that of an adult, he is more at risk of oppressing the system including the hypothalamus, adrenal glands and pituitary gland, and besides this development of signs of hypercorticism syndrome with any local SCS. This risk increases if you treat areas that exceed 20% of the entire surface of the skin.

It is required to use the minimum effective portions of GCS, which are sufficient for obtaining the medicinal effect. The treatment course lasts a maximum of 5 days. Long-term use of GCS can cause developmental and growth disorders in the child.

There is no data on the safety of the use of the drug in a child for more than 1.5 months.

It is forbidden to use Elozon to eliminate dermatitis, which is due to the wearing of diapers.
