DuoTrav
Last reviewed: 04.07.2025

DuoTrav is a combination ophthalmic preparation used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma. It consists of two active ingredients:
- Travoprost: This is a miotic agent that dilates the pupil of the eye and improves the outflow of intraocular fluid, resulting in a decrease in intraocular pressure.
- Timolol maleate: This is a beta-blocker that reduces the formation of aqueous humor, which also helps to reduce intraocular pressure.
DuoTrav is usually used as eye drops. It is intended for topical use and helps manage glaucoma by controlling intraocular pressure.

Indications DuoGrass
DuoTrav is used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma or acute angle-closure glaucoma.
Release form
DuoTrav is usually supplied as eye drops.
Pharmacodynamics
- Travoprost: This is an alpha-adrenergic agonist that reduces intraocular pressure (IOP) by decreasing the resistance to aqueous outflow. Travoprost may also improve aqueous drainage from the eye by dilating the Schlemm canal.
- Timolol maleate: This is a beta-blocker that lowers IOP by decreasing the production of aqueous humor.
The combination of these two components in DuoTrav helps to effectively reduce intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma or elevated intraocular pressure.
Dosing and administration
Before using the drug, you must wash your hands thoroughly. Then, following the instructions below, administer the drops:
- Bend back or lie down with your head slightly back.
- Lift the upper eyelid to create a pocket between the eye and the eyelid.
- Using one hand, pull your eyelid down to expose the inner corner of your eye.
- Hold the bottle of drops with one hand and insert a drop into the pocket between the eye and eyelid with the other hand.
- When instilling, avoid contact of the tip of the bottle with the eyes, eyelids or other surfaces.
- Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner of your eye with your finger for one to two minutes to prevent the drop from entering your nasal passage.
It is important to follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and frequency of use, as these may be individualized depending on your condition and response to treatment.
