Thrush is a fungal pathology, the causes of which are quite diverse. Fungal infections of the genus Candida are observed both in the outer skin and in the internal organs.

Difluzol for thrush is considered the optimal medication, which, due to its composition, has a destructive effect on the fungus and eliminates the unpleasant clinical manifestations of the disease.

Thrush can be caused by a disorder in the immune system as a result of changes in hormonal status, a long course of antibiotics, diabetes mellitus and chronic pathology, such as cancer, tuberculosis or HIV infection.

Difluzol, according to the ATC code, refers to antimicrobial agents for use in systemic lesions. In particular, it is an antifungal drug - a derivative of triazole, namely fluconazole.

Indications Diflusol for thrush

Depending on the stage of the pathological process, the thrush can affect both the mucous membranes of internal organs and the external skin.

Indications for the use of difluzol for thrush include the appearance of clinical symptoms of the disease such as: swelling, hyperemia of varying intensity, a tingling sensation, itching and burning, as well as the formation of a white cheesy coating.

Women suffer from thrush much more often than men. Symptoms of the disease can be observed in childhood and in pregnant women. It is worth noting that it is in the evening and at night that the intensity of thrush manifestations increases, as well as after warm procedures.

Indications for the use of difluzol for thrush include genital candidiasis, including vaginal candidiasis, acute or recurrent candidal balanitis. The drug is widely used to treat thrush and as a preventive measure for frequent recurrent episodes of the disease.

Release form

The active ingredient of the medicinal product difluzol is fluconazole. For more convenient use, the manufacturer has released several types of dosages for individual selection for each individual case.

The release form is a tablet preparation, namely capsules. The dosage can be 50 mg, 100 mg or 150 mg. In addition, the packaging also varies in the number of capsules. Thus, they can contain 1, 2 or 7 capsules.

Such packaging is necessary to select a dosage corresponding to the severity of the pathology. The main physical and chemical properties of the capsule are a hard gelatin surface and different colors depending on the dosage.

The capsule contains a white powder without odor. This form of release does not allow the use of difluzol in children under 6 years of age. At an older age, it is necessary to carefully select dosages and establish the duration of administration in order to avoid overdose and suppression of normal human microflora.

Pharmacodynamics

As is known, the main active component of difluzol is considered to be fluconazole. The latter, in turn, belongs to the class of drugs consisting of triazole derivatives that affect the fungus.

The pharmacodynamics of difluzol for thrush is based on the ability of the drug to selectively inhibit the synthesis of sterols in fungal cells. The drug has proven itself in the fight against mycoses, the cause of which are the most common types of fungi (Candida spp, Histoplasma capsulatum? Microsporum spp.).

Difluzol is considered a highly specific antifungal drug, which, thanks to fluconazole, is able to inhibit the growth of fungi and promote their death.

The pharmacodynamics of difluzol for thrush is expressed in a decrease in the activity of fungal enzymes, which has a negative effect on the formation of new cell membranes. In addition, there is an increase in the permeability of cell membranes, disruption of fungal growth and their reproduction.

Pharmacokinetics

Since difluzol is intended for internal oral use, its absorption occurs in the digestive tract. This process occurs quite quickly, and is not affected by prior food intake.

The pharmacokinetics of difluzol for thrush ensures the maximum level of concentration of the main active substance in the blood within 30-90 minutes after taking the drug on an empty stomach.

Only 10-12% of the absorbed substance is transported through the bloodstream by binding to plasma proteins. After 30 hours, half of the dose taken the day before remains in the human body.

The pharmacokinetics of difluzol for thrush is characterized by bioavailability exceeding 90%. Fluconazole easily penetrates into all environments and tissues of the body. In comparison with serum concentrations, fluconazole reaches a maximum in the stratum corneum, epidermis, dermis and sweat gland secretion. However, the main accumulation of the drug is observed in the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

The drug is excreted by the kidneys. About 80% of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine.

Dosing and administration

The daily dose of the drug directly depends on the severity of the pathology and the presence of concomitant disorders in the functioning of the entire body. With prolonged use of fluconazole, it is necessary to conduct regular blood tests using laboratory tests.

The method of administration and dosage for thrush is usually 150 mg for a single dose. In order to reduce the likelihood of recurrence of thrush, it is recommended to take 150 mg once a month. Depending on the prevalence of the fungal process, the therapeutic course can be from 4 months to a year.

If clinical manifestations of thrush persist for several months with a dosage of 150 mg, it is necessary to review the dosage and frequency of difluzol use. For prophylactic purposes, with frequent recurring disease, the single dose can be increased to 400 mg. Such selection of the dose should be made only by a doctor

The method of administration and dosage in childhood should be calculated based on the child's body weight. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed to use difluzol. Depending on the severity of the disease, it is necessary to control the dosage and duration of administration.

Use Diflusol for thrush during pregnancy

The long process of bearing a fetus is very responsible and quite difficult for the woman and the fetus itself. In this regard, it is not possible to conduct a large number of studies on the use of drugs during pregnancy. This is due to the fact that any negative effect of the drug on the fetus can lead to disruption of its development and further insufficient functioning of the organs.

The use of difluzol for thrush during pregnancy also does not have a sufficient number of studies, so its use should not be recommended. It is possible that high doses of fluconazole, exceeding 400-800 mg over a long period, can cause the development of congenital malformations of the fetus.

The use of difluzol for thrush during pregnancy can be allowed only in the case when the fungal infection threatens the life of the woman and the course of pregnancy. Without its use, the health condition may worsen. Having compared the benefits for the pregnant woman and the risk to the fetus, the doctor may allow the use of difluzol.

In addition, it is important to remember that during lactation, the use of difluzol is also not allowed without consulting a doctor.

Contraindications

Among the most common contraindications for all medications are the individual characteristics of each person and intolerance to the main or auxiliary components of the drug. Difluzol is no exception, since there is a possibility of developing an adverse reaction to fluconazole or other azole compounds that are similar to it in chemical structure.

Contraindications to the use of difluzol for thrush include its simultaneous use with drugs that can increase the QT interval.

In addition, fluconazole should be used with extreme caution in severe renal failure and liver damage. There is a possibility of minor changes in laboratory parameters that monitor liver function.

However, if clinical symptoms of liver damage worsen and there are significant abnormalities in blood tests, the use of fluconazole should be discontinued.

The drug should be used with caution in case of extensive fungal lesions of the skin to avoid worsening the condition (toxic epidermal necrolysis).

Contraindications to the use of difluzol for thrush include the inadmissibility of taking this drug simultaneously with terfenadine.

Side effects Diflusol for thrush

Each organism can react to the administration of a drug differently, showing its side effects. This depends on the degree of tolerance of the components of the drug and the dosage.

Side effects of difluzol for thrush may include mild dizziness, pain in the temporal and occipital regions of the head, tremors, sleep disturbances, changes in taste and tactile sensations.

In some people, the digestive system reacts to oral administration of difluzol with intestinal dysfunction, abdominal pain, dry mouth, increased gas formation in the intestines and vomiting.

Side effects of difluzol for thrush from the blood side are manifested in the form of a decrease in the level of leukocytes, including neutrophils, and platelets.

The immune response may manifest itself in the form of anaphylaxis, in particular, angioedema, facial swelling, itching and urticaria.

Also, do not forget about the increase in cholesterol, triglycerides and decrease in the amount of potassium in the blood. The skin and tissue suffer in the form of alopecia, exfoliative dermatitis, rashes, increased sweating and acute widespread eczematous pustulosis.

Overdose

If the recommended dosages are not followed and the drug is used for a long time, exceeding the permissible ones, the risk of overdose increases. It is especially important to monitor the dosage in childhood.

Overdose of the drug in most cases manifests itself in the form of pronounced side effects. Some people may experience hallucinations and paranoid behavior.

The overdose condition should be treated symptomatically after special "cleansing" procedures. First, the stomach should be washed to stop further entry of the drug into the general bloodstream and remove its remains from the body.

An effective method is hemodialysis, due to which after 3 hours the concentration of fluconazole in human blood decreases by 2 times. In addition, it is necessary to use "forced diuresis" to speed up the process of removing the drug's metabolites, since most of the medication is filtered by the kidneys.

All of the above procedures must be performed exclusively in a hospital setting under the supervision of a physician.

Interactions with other drugs

When using several drugs at the same time, their compatibility must be taken into account and taken into account when choosing a dosage. Thus, the interaction of difluzol for thrush with other drugs, such as anticoagulants, can manifest itself in the form of bleeding - cavity (organs of the digestive tract, urinary system), as well as in the tissue with the formation of hematomas.

These complications are related to the fact that fluconazole increases prothrombin time, especially in people taking warfarin.

When fluconazole and short-acting benzodiazepines are taken together, an increase in difluzol concentrations has been noted, up to the appearance of psychomotor reactions. It is necessary to carefully monitor the person's condition after their simultaneous use.

The interaction of difluzol for thrush with other drugs, for example, hydrochlorothiazide, is manifested in the form of an increase in the concentration of fluconazole, but insignificantly, which does not require a reduction in the dose of the antifungal agent.

Fluconazole can increase the concentration of phentoin to a significant level with the appearance of clinical symptoms. To avoid the development of adverse reactions, phentoin doses should be carefully selected.

When using difluzol and sulfonylurea derivatives together, one must remember the possible development of hypoglycemia, since fluconazole can prolong the time that hypoglycemic drugs remain in the human body.

Fluconazole should also be used with caution with tacrolimus, terfenadine, theophylline, zinovudine, astemizole, erythromycin, pimozide, amitriptyline, amphotericin, carbamazepine, celecoxib, cyclophosphamide, fentanyl, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, losartan, methadone, NSAIDs, prednisolone, and vitamin A.

Storage conditions

In order for medications to retain their therapeutic effects throughout their shelf life and not cause harm to humans, it is necessary to take into account their storage conditions.

The manufacturer is obliged to indicate them in the instructions to avoid spoilage of the medicine. The storage conditions of difluzol for thrush provide for maintaining the optimal temperature, humidity and lighting in the room where the drug is supposed to be stored.

Thus, the temperature of the storage location should not be higher than 25 degrees and it is necessary to ensure that there is no direct sunlight on the packaging or capsule.

Storage conditions necessarily imply a place for the medicine where children will not have access. When taking the capsule orally, the child may develop obstructive syndrome with a lack of air, which leads to the emergence of a life-threatening condition. An overdose is also possible, since children can take several capsules.

Special instructions

Reviews of difluzol for thrush

The drug is very common for the treatment and prevention of thrush. Girls especially often use the drug. Reviews of difluzol for thrush are mostly positive.

Objectivity of their assessment is impossible, since the cause of thrush in women, as well as the correctness of the frequency of administration and dosage, are unknown.

However, it is still worth noting that for most women the drug had the desired effect, so the reviews of Difluzol for thrush are mostly positive.

For some women, monotherapy with difluzol did not lead to the desired result, but later, when antifungal vaginal suppositories were added, the thrush was defeated.

A third of women noted that after using difluzol the disease retreated, but not for a long time. Clinical symptoms of thrush returned after a few weeks. In such cases, women had to take the capsules again.

Difluzol for thrush is a very popular remedy, but it is worth noting that not always one drug is able to cope with fungal infection. In this regard, it is recommended to carry out complex treatment with the addition of antifungal suppositories.

Shelf life

When manufacturing a medicinal product, its expiration date must be indicated. The date of manufacture and the last day of use are applied to the outer cardboard packaging, as well as to the blister with capsules.

The expiration date must be located in a readily accessible place, since after its expiration the use of any medicinal product is prohibited.

This is due to the fact that after the date of last use, the chemical structure of the drug may be disrupted, which leads to the loss of therapeutic properties. Such a drug can cause a lot of harm to a person and even threaten his life.

In order for the drug to remain in its original composition and bring benefits throughout its shelf life, it is necessary to follow the rules for its storage. After opening the blister cell and taking out the capsule, it should be taken, otherwise the drug loses its medicinal properties in the open air.
