Pharmacodynamics
The drug reversibly combines with the endings of histamine (H1), along with this blocking their activity. This helps to eliminate swelling in the nasal mucosa and hypersecretion processes, as well as bronchial spasms, itching and smooth muscle spasms. Along with this, the strength of the vascular membrane is strengthened and the capillaries are narrowed.
It has a hypnotic and antihistamine effect, as well as a strong antipruritic effect. It shows the greatest effectiveness in preventing allergies or reducing the intensity of existing symptoms.
By blocking m-cholinergic receptors, a moderate spasmolytic effect on smooth muscles occurs - muscle tone in the areas of the bronchi with intestines and the bladder decreases.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is absorbed by 100%, and its Cmax indicator is noted in the blood after 2 hours from the moment of taking the drug. It is maintained at this level for 4-6 hours.
The element is distributed evenly. Metabolic processes occur inside the liver, and the medicinal component is excreted through feces and urine.
Dosing and administration
The medication should be administered orally, with food. The size of an adult dosage portion is 25-50 mg, taken 3-4 times a day. A maximum of 150 mg is allowed per day. The size of children's portions depends on age and is 6.25-12.5 mg taken 3 times a day. For small children, it is allowed to grind the tablets into powder.
It is believed that the drug can be carefully prescribed to children over 1 month old, but in such cases the appropriateness of use and dosage should be determined by a doctor.

Reviews
Chloropyramine is a 1st generation antihistamine with the ability to reversibly synthesize with H1-endings, which is why it must be taken in large doses to achieve the desired therapeutic effect. Also, due to the fact that the effect of the drug is short-lived, the drug should be taken 4 times a day, and in some situations even 6 times.
Taking it in large doses causes drowsiness and a sedative effect, and in some patients, dizziness. These disorders are the reason for negative reviews of the therapeutic agent. This effect limits its use in patients whose work requires a quick reaction or good motor coordination. Therefore, the doctor must warn about the possible development of a sedative effect before prescribing the medication.
