Is calcium effective for allergies?

Calcium for allergy is used as part of a complex treatment in the form of calcium chloride (calcium salt of hydrochloric acid) and calcium gluconate (calcium gluconic acid salt), which are released in the form of powder, tablets, solutions for intravenous injection and ingestion.
Calcium chloride and calcium gluconate are similar in pharmacological effects, but calcium gluconate is believed to be less irritating. The main treatment with antihistamines with the use of calcium preparations has an enhanced effect, which is due to the ability of calcium ions to transmit nerve impulses, to affect the contraction of smooth muscles, etc. However, the mechanism of the antiallergic effect of calcium is not fully understood. It is also known that it can cause stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system and influence the increase in the production of adrenaline by the adrenal glands. Calcium chloride for allergies
Calcium chloride in case of allergies can have a good adjuvant effect, greatly relieving the manifestations of an allergic reaction. It is used for hives, hay fever, with an immune reaction to the introduction of foreign whey proteins, angioedema, and allergic reactions caused by the side effects of medication. Calcium chloride increases the secretion of adrenaline into the blood, stimulating the sympathetic nervous system and thereby reducing puffiness and eliminating the rash on the skin. Calcium chloride in case of allergy is taken, as a rule, after eating 0.5-1 tablespoon of a five- or ten-percent solution two to three times a day. The recommended dose for children is one to two teaspoons. Also, in the treatment of allergy, calcium chloride slowly drips into the vein in dilution with an isotonic sodium chloride solution or glucose. Treatment with calcium chloride for allergies is combined with the intake of antihistamines, since loratidine, claritin, suprastin, etc. Contraindications to the appointment of calcium chloride are thromboses, severe stages of atherosclerosis, as well as a high level of calcium ions in the blood. Calcium chloride is not injected into the muscle and under the skin, since it is fraught with the formation of tissue necrosis. Calcium gluconate for allergies
As you know, even a small lack of calcium in the body can increase the symptoms of an allergic reaction. This is due to the fact that calcium, contained in the body in sufficient quantities, reduces the permeability of blood vessels, as a result of which it is difficult to penetrate allergens into the bloodstream. Consequently, with increased doses of calcium, the probability of an immune reaction is reduced. Calcium gluconate in case of allergy promotes the replenishment of calcium in the body, thereby accelerating the process of recovery, is used as an auxiliary for various allergic reactions, including those caused by the side effect of drugs. Calcium gluconate is consumed before taking food. Adults appoint two to six tablets in a dosage of one to three grams two to three times a day. Children aged from three to four years - one gram, five to six years, 1-1.5 grams, from seven to nine years - 1.5-2 grams, ten to fourteen years - 2-3 grams two to three times a day. People of advanced age are not recommended to consume more than two grams of calcium gluconate per day. Side effects when taking calcium gluconate can be nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, epigastric pain, decreased heart rate. With renal insufficiency, predisposition to thrombosis or their presence, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria and atherosclerosis calcium gluconate for treatment is not used.
