Berovent is a selective agonist acting on β-2-adrenergic receptors. Used to eliminate respiratory pathologies of an obstructive nature.

Indications of the beervent

It is used for symptomatic therapy in acute asthmatic attacks. It is also prescribed to prevent the development of asthma caused by physical stress.

It is used for symptomatic procedures aimed at eliminating bronchial asthma, which is allergic or non-allergic in nature, or other conditions during which there is curable obstruction of the respiratory ducts (for example, an obstructive form of chronic bronchitis accompanied or not accompanied by emphysema).

With prolonged treatment, an anti-inflammatory therapeutic course complementary to the main scheme must be carried out.

Release form

The release is made in the form of a dosed inhalation aerosol, in a metal can, equipped with a nozzle-sprayer and a protective cap, capacity 15 ml (300 portions). In the package - 1 such a can.

Pharmacodynamics

Berovent has a pronounced bronchodilator effect, which is developed due to stimulation of bronchial β2-adrenergic receptors. Bronchodilator properties are provided by the ability of the drug to stimulate adenylate cyclase, resulting in a cumulation of cAMP within the cells. The last component, acting on the activity of protein kinase, inhibits the ability of the myosin substance to be synthesized with actin, which causes a slowing of the smooth muscle contraction, which helps to relax the bronchi.

Medicinal portions of the drug do not affect the work of important organs for life, and also do not have a locally irritating effect. Use in large portions leads to a loss of selectivity of the effect and development of stimulation of β1-adrenergic receptors.

The synthesis of drugs with β2-adrenergic receptors by stimulating the activity of Gs-protein activates the action of adenylate cyclase.

The increase in cAMP values activates the activity of protein kinase A, which results in phosphorylation of target proteins located inside the smooth muscle cells. This effect causes phosphorylation of the kinase in the region of the light myosin chains, suppression of phosphoinositide hydrolysis processes, and the opening of large channels K, which are dependent on the element Ca.

Pharmacokinetics

After the inhalation, the spread of bronchodilator effect begins several minutes later, and then continues for 3-5 hours. The method of inhalation, as well as the type of inhaler used, determine the exact value of the active element falling into the lower part of the respiratory system (the indices vary within 10-30%). The remainder of the drug settles in the upper part of the respiratory ducts and in the mouth. Some of the drugs swallow and enter the digestive tract.

After injecting the first portion of Beventent, about 17% of the drug is absorbed. Absorption occurs in 2 stages - first rapid absorption of 30% fenoterol (with a half-absorption period of 11 minutes), and then a slow absorption of 70% of the substance (the half-absorption period is 2 hours).

Dosing and administration

In one portion of spraying the aerosol contains 100-200 μg of fenoterol hydrobromide. For a day you need to perform 2-3 inhalation procedures. If there is no result after the first inhalation procedure, it is allowed to repeat it after a lapse of 5 minutes. In the future, inhalation should be performed at intervals of 5 hours.

To prevent the development of an attack of bronchial asthma, it is often sufficient to administer the first dose of drugs through inhalation.

To prevent the appearance of bronchial asthma due to physical exertion, 1-2 servings per inhalation are used (the maximum permissible limit of application per day is 8 servings - 1.6 mg fenoterol).

During therapy in children, the drug is used in a dosage of 100 μg, under the supervision of a doctor or adult.

Use of the beervent during pregnancy

Fenoterol passes through the placenta.

Use Berovent during pregnancy or breastfeeding is allowed only after a comprehensive assessment of the benefits and risks (especially the 1st trimester).

There is no information on the adverse effects of fenoterol on infants. Because this element passes into the mother's milk, it is possible to use drugs with lactation only after the ratio of probable benefit and possible risks.

There is no information on the effects of fenoterol hydrobromide on the fertility of a woman. Preclinical tests of this element demonstrated the absence of a negative effect on this function.

Contraindications

The main contraindications:

  • the presence of hypersensitivity to fenoterol hydrobromide or inactive elements of the drug;
  • hypertrophic form of obstructive cardiomyopathy;
  • tachyarrhythmia;
  • It is prohibited to use in this form of release in children under 4 years of age.

Side effects of the beervent

The use of aerosol can cause the appearance of certain side-effects:

  • dizziness with headaches, a feeling of strong excitability, arrhythmia and tachycardia;
  • muscle tremor, cramps, myalgia, sensation of weakness;
  • spasms of bronchus paradoxical type, cough, hyperhidrosis;
  • vomiting with nausea;
  • cutaneous manifestations of allergies and itching;
  • hypokalemia, and in addition, a decrease in the level of diastolic pressure and an increase in the systolic pressure.

Overdose

Intoxication manifests itself in the form of a sense of anxiety, tachycardia, hand tremor, arrhythmia, anginal attacks, skin hyperemia, and in addition to lowering blood pressure. An incurable bronchial obstruction may also develop.

In the form of an antidote used drugs that block the action of β-adrenoreceptors (mostly cardioselective nature, because there is a possibility of developing bronchospasm), and in addition, tranquilizers and sedatives.

Interactions with other drugs

Derivatives of xanthine, β-adrenergic drugs, and in addition cholinolytics can enhance the bronchodilator properties and side effects of Berovent.

The hypokalemia caused by β-agonists can be enhanced when combined with xanthine derivatives, diuretics and steroids.

The frequency of arrhythmia in people who use the drug with digoxin is increasing.

Decrease in the effectiveness of the drug can develop when used with β-blockers.

Tricyclics, MAOIs and halogenated hydrocarbons (used with inhalation anesthesia) can potentiate the development of negative cardiovascular effects.

Storage conditions

Beervent is required to be kept in a place that is closed from the access of small children. The temperature is not higher than 25 ° C.

Shelf life

Berovent is allowed to be used for 2 years from the date of release of the drug.
