Liver function analysis
The liver has enzymes, the level and condition of which can be used to determine how well it is working. These are the following components.
- ALT
- AST
- GGT
- Alkaline phosphates
- Bilirubin
If there are too many of these ingredients, the liver may not function properly. What else can cause liver dysfunction?
- Alcohol abuse
- Frequent use of medications, especially psychotropic drugs
- Hepatitis diseases of different types
- Taking herbal teas and infusions
- Myocardial infarction (chronic and acute forms)
- Other chronic diseases
- Poisonings
If a person is on a diet for a long time and thus depletes his body, he may have an increased level of liver bilirubin, as a result of which the liver begins to function intermittently.

Liver proteins and liver function
The main protein substances of the liver are globulin and albumin. They are produced by the liver itself and are transported throughout the body with the blood.
These proteins help create antibodies, which, like some other substances, act as messengers for the immune system.
As for albumin, it helps the muscles and other organs work: liver, kidneys, lungs. It helps muscle fibers form.
If there is little albumin in the body, the reasons for its deficiency may be:
- Diets that exhaust the body
- Diseases of the digestive tract
- Liver and kidney diseases
- Chronic inflammation
- A menu low in proteins, fats and carbohydrates
If tests show that albumin levels are catastrophically high or low, additional tests are needed to determine the quality of work of other enzymes produced by the liver.
Endocrinologists recommend that albumin levels be tested before the patient starts to normalize weight. This is a reliable indicator of liver function.
How do kidneys work? Tests
To determine the quality of kidney function, it is important to conduct an analysis of the levels of substances that the kidneys process. Here they are.
- Uric acid
- Creatinine
- Serum urea
These substances are excreted from the body with urine, they are a product of protein breakdown in the body. If a lot of these substances are found in the urine, it means that the kidneys are not working well enough.
Serum urea
If there is not enough of this substance in the body, it means that a person has accumulated a lot of fluid inside. An indicator of such a condition is edema or a poor menu with a small amount of protein food and an excessive amount of carbohydrates.
If there is little urea in the body, this may indicate chronic diseases or inflammatory processes.
This means that you definitely need additional examinations of your kidney function.
Creatinine
Low levels of creatinine in the blood will most likely indicate kidney disease and malfunction. If this level is lower than 1.5 units, then you have reason to think that kidney function is impaired.
If the creatinine level is higher or equal to 29 units, it means that you drink little liquid and your kidneys suffer from this. In addition, you need to balance the menu. Namely, increase the protein content in the diet.
Uric acid
If there is a lot of uric acid in the body, you have a problem with alcohol abuse. In addition, the body has an elevated level of triglycerides, too much protein, but very little fluid.
If there is a lot of uric acid, this is also a reason to see a doctor. This means that a person may develop gout, as well as arthritis. Both of these diseases can cause pain - in the toes and fingers, feet. Then you need to eliminate alcohol from the menu, and also contact a gastroenterologist to balance the menu.
