Troxevasin in pregnancy

Pregnancy is not only a happy expectation of a baby. Unfortunately, it is also pain in the legs, swelling, manifestations of varicose veins, heaviness and constant fatigue of the lower extremities. Troxevasin during pregnancy is one of the means that can alleviate such symptoms.

Indications for use

The main indications for the use of troxevasin during pregnancy are signs of venous insufficiency, varicose veins of the visible or deep veins of the lower extremities.

Early stages of vascular wall damage, which manifest as heaviness and fatigue of the legs, muscle cramps, swelling of the lower extremities, and the appearance of vascular "stars", are successfully treated by using a combination of internal and external administration of troxevasin. The earliest possible use of troxevasin during pregnancy allows for the restoration and improvement of blood circulation in the venous vessels.

The use of troxevasin during pregnancy in the late stages of the disease, characterized by the visible presence of dilated veins and nodes, significantly improves the general condition of patients, activates trophic processes in tissues, eliminates cramps and heaviness in the legs, but, unfortunately, does not eliminate the external manifestations of venous wall damage.

The use of troxevasin during pregnancy can also be considered as a preventive measure to reduce the load on the vascular system, as well as to reduce the degree of swelling and congestion in the lower extremities.

Release form

Troxevasin is available in capsule form or as a gel for external use.

The capsules have a solid structure, cylindrical shape and a dense yellow gelatin shell. The contents are a yellowish powder consisting of 300 mg of troxerutin per capsule.

For local use, a 2% gel in a tube is used; 1 g of the finished gel contains 20 mg of the active substance troxerutin.

Troxevasin ointment during pregnancy

Troxevasin gel during pregnancy (ointment) has the ability to reduce the permeability of the capillary wall, relieve signs of inflammation in the vessels and prevent the formation of blood clots.

The structure of the gel allows the medicinal substance to penetrate tissues in the best possible way by means of regular application to the skin. The gel is a self-sufficient medical preparation, however, its combined use with oral capsules of troxevasin significantly enhances the positive effect of troxerutin on the vascular system.

The anti-edematous effect of the gel is based on the strengthening properties of the active substance. The walls of the capillary system become stronger, their permeability decreases. This effect on the vascular membrane is especially important in metabolic disorders, when the vessels become extremely fragile and vulnerable.

Troxevasin gel is also used for hemorrhoids, because this disease is nothing more than the same weakening of the vascular wall as with varicose veins, only in a different location.

The gel also helps with external tissue trauma: hematomas, closed bruises. This medicine ensures rapid resorption of intertissue hemorrhages and edemas.

Troxevasin capsules during pregnancy

With the onset of pregnancy, the risk of varicose veins increases with each week. The enlarged uterus produces increased pressure on the nearest vessels, which contributes to the development of venous congestion and swelling. Moreover, congestion can affect both superficial and deep veins of the legs.

The capsules can be used both as a preventive measure and for the treatment of some initial manifestations of varicose veins: heaviness in the lower extremities, swelling of the legs, the appearance of a vascular network, redness, convulsive phenomena (especially at night), pain. Simultaneously with the use of capsules, it is recommended to use troxevasin gel, as well as other measures to prevent varicose disease.

Pharmacodynamics

Troxevasin is a drug that protects blood vessels from damage. It reduces the permeability of the vascular membrane by reducing the pores between the cellular endothelium and rebuilding the fibrous structure of the intercellular space.

The drug prevents platelet aggregation and increases the compliance of red blood cells, while simultaneously suppressing inflammatory processes.

In case of long-term venous wall insufficiency, troxevasin helps eliminate signs of blood stagnation: swelling, convulsive manifestations, pain along the vein, tissue nutritional disorders and, as a consequence, ulcerative skin lesions.

Significantly alleviates the condition of patients with hemorrhoids: relieves pain, itching, eliminates hemorrhages.

In diabetes mellitus, troxevasin has a positive effect on the condition of the vascular wall, reduces the increased vascular permeability and capillary fragility characteristic of this disease, which subsequently prevents the phenomena of thrombosis of small vessels of the brain and retina.

Pharmacokinetics

Oral administration of the drug allows absorption of about 15% of the active substance. The maximum threshold of concentration in the blood serum is determined within 1.5-2 hours after the use of troxevasin. The therapeutic effect lasts about eight hours after the drug enters the blood.

More than 20% of the drug is excreted from the body through the urinary system, the rest goes through all stages of metabolism in the liver and is excreted in the feces unchanged.

Method of administration and dosage

The use of troxevasin during pregnancy should be controlled by the attending physician, who will individually prescribe the most appropriate form of the drug and the optimal dosage.

The standard dosage of the drug involves taking one capsule of troxevasin up to three times a day, during meals, with a glass of liquid.

The effectiveness of troxevasin during pregnancy may not manifest itself immediately, but within 10-14 days. After this, the doctor decides on the advisability of further administration of troxevasin: therapy can be canceled or continued with the preservation or reduction of the initial dosage of the drug.

The standard duration of therapy with Troxevasin is one month; the effect of the drug should last for at least 3 weeks after the end of treatment.

The presence of metabolic pathologies in the patient requires an individual approach in prescribing angioprotective drugs.

Is it possible to have troxevasin during pregnancy?

In the early stages of pregnancy, you should avoid taking any medications. Starting from the twelfth week of gestation, that is, from the second to the third trimester inclusive, the use of troxevasin is possible.

During the first weeks of pregnancy, while taking medications is not recommended, you can use standard preventive measures aimed at reducing the load on the venous system and improving venotonicity.

• Try to stand in one place less: if possible, sit down or walk around, do not let the blood stagnate in the veins.
• When lying down, it is useful to place a pillow or cushion under your feet to facilitate the outflow of venous blood from the lower extremities.
• If long walks or standing are unavoidable, use compression hosiery, which can be purchased at pharmacies: special tights for varicose veins will evenly distribute the load across the entire venous system of the lower extremities and will not allow individual venous areas to bulge outward.
• Try to avoid swelling of your legs: avoid consuming salt and chemical preservatives.
• Eat more vegetables and fruits – a complete diet rich in vitamins and valuable microelements will strengthen the vascular walls and maintain venous tone.

Troxevasin for hemorrhoids during pregnancy

Hemorrhoids are an extremely unpleasant disease of the venous vessels of the anus. The cause may be congenital and acquired weakness of the vascular wall, as well as frequent constipation caused by poor nutrition or a sedentary lifestyle.

The active substance of the drug - troxerutin - penetrates into the vascular membranes of hemorrhoidal veins, improves tissue nutrition, prevents the formation of blood clots, strengthens the valve system and vascular tone. As a result of the therapeutic effect, hemorrhoids decrease, venous blood flow improves, and vascular congestion disappears. Signs and symptoms of the inflammatory process are gradually relieved, swelling is significantly reduced.

To consolidate the effect of troxevasin in hemorrhoids, it is recommended to carry out preventive measures for the expansion of hemorrhoidal veins: treatment of constipation, consumption of foods rich in fiber, vegetables, fruits, with a sedentary lifestyle, periodic gymnastic exercises should be included in the daily routine, massage, walking in the fresh air are recommended.

Instructions for use of troxevasin during pregnancy

Troxevasin in gel form can be applied only to intact skin. It is prohibited to use the drug on open wound surfaces, ulcerative skin lesions, and external inflammatory processes. The drug cannot be administered into the anus: the gel is not used on mucous membranes.

The preparation is applied to the outer surface of the skin, rubbed in with gentle movements, lightly massaging the affected area.

When applied to the area of hemorrhoids, you can lubricate the protruding nodes directly, or apply gauze soaked in the gel overnight.

The procedure of applying troxevasin during pregnancy is preferably carried out twice a day; the treatment can be quite long, up to several months, depending on the patient’s condition and the severity of varicose lesions.

Troxevasin capsules are taken whole, without chewing or biting them, preferably with food, with a glass of liquid. The duration of administration is determined by the doctor.

Contraindications for use

Among the most obvious contraindications to the use of troxevasin during pregnancy are the following:

• first trimester of pregnancy;
• the presence of hypersensitivity of the body to angioprotective drugs;
• hypersensitivity to other components of the drug;
• acute stage of gastritis or gastroduodenitis;
• acute stage of ulcerative disease of the gastrointestinal tract.

The use of external gel is contraindicated in the presence of open wounds and skin lesions in the area of intended application of the drug.

Side effects

If no hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug has been detected, side effects when taking troxevasin during pregnancy may be extremely rare.

Theoretically, dyspeptic disorders, gastritis, facial flushing, headaches, and a feeling of heat may occur.

Discontinuation of the drug usually leads to normalization of the condition and relief of side effects.

Overdose

An overdose of troxevasin during pregnancy is considered unacceptable, since the drug must be taken under the supervision of a doctor.

If you experience suspicious symptoms such as headaches, nausea, facial flushing, or psychomotor agitation, you should consult a doctor.

In case of overdose, gastric lavage and symptomatic therapy may be required.

Interaction with other drugs

The medicinal effect of troxevasin on vascular tone is enhanced by the simultaneous administration of 0.5 g of vitamin C.

The anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic effect of troxevasin is enhanced by taking acetylsalicylic acid at a dosage of 250-325 mg/day. However, it should be noted that taking aspirin during pregnancy is highly discouraged. Such a prescription can only be used by a doctor if there are strict indications for it.

Storage conditions

Room temperature, a dark, dry place that is inaccessible to children - these are the best conditions for storing troxevasin. It is not necessary to put the external gel in the refrigerator - it is enough to protect the drug from heating and direct sunlight.

Under proper storage conditions, the shelf life of Troxevasin can reach 5 years.

Reviews

The quality and effectiveness of the drug greatly exceed its cost. The best effect is achieved with long-term and combined use of the drug. Chaotic and uncontrolled use, frequent omission of the required dose, use of the drug less than 2-3 capsules per day without using external gel can negatively affect the expected effectiveness of troxevasin.

Only a full course of the drug and a certain scheme of its administration will ensure an improvement in the condition of patients, as well as a reduction in symptoms characteristic of varicose veins or hemorrhoids. Do not forget that in the presence of varicose veins and trophic ulcers, the use of angioprotectors is already ineffective, in such situations, a consultation with a vascular surgeon is required.

Troxevasin is often used during pregnancy as a preventive measure to reduce the load on the vascular wall of the lower extremities, and the drug copes with this task quite effectively.
