What happens in the 3rd week of pregnancy is of interest to many women at this stage.

Fertilization of the egg often occurs in the 3rd week of pregnancy, if this process has not occurred earlier – at the end of the second week. During fertilization of the egg, the sex of the child, its character, color of eyes, hair, skin, body structure are determined.

The fertilized egg is called a zygote, which begins to divide very quickly, as a result of which many new cells are constantly being formed. The zygote constantly grows and moves along the fallopian tubes, enters the uterine cavity, searches for a suitable place and is implanted (fixed) in the endometrium.

After implantation, the zygote is called a blastocyst, which also divides and grows continuously and quickly. Soon, the blastocyst lengthens and a cavity forms in it, in which the embryonic disk is formed. At the end of the third week of pregnancy, this disk folds into a cylinder, which will have ends of different widths. Subsequently, the head will form from one end, and the tail from the other. During this period, the main organs and systems are laid down.

Now we can say that pregnancy has occurred. At 3 weeks of pregnancy, the embryo is extremely small, its weight is two to three micrograms, and its height is 0.15-0.2 mm.

Important: Each baby's development is unique. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of fetal development.

Pregnancy 3 weeks from conception

Pregnancy 3 weeks from conception is a very important and responsible time in the development of the embryo, since the process of histogenesis begins, which is characterized by the development and differentiation of cells, as a result of which tissues are formed, and later organs of the whole organism. This process is initiated on the fifteenth to seventeenth day after fertilization of the egg.

Histogenesis is influenced by a combination of endogenous and exogenous factors. Internal factors include heredity. Exogenous factors include the lifestyle and living conditions of the pregnant woman. The process of histogenesis refers to the second critical period of embryo development (the first is in the second week of pregnancy).

Histogenesis – tissue differentiation of germ layers is carried out in several directions.

  1. Ectoderm - from it the neural tube is formed, from which the spinal cord and brain will subsequently form, as well as a set of cells from which the cells of the skin will originate.
  2. The mesoderm provides cell evolution in the following directions:
    • formation of muscle, bone and cartilage tissues,
    • cells of the kidneys, liver, spleen and sex glands are created,
    • the peritoneum and connective tissue membranes of the lungs (pleura) and heart (pericardium) are formed.
  3. Endoderm - from which the intestinal tube develops, and then the digestive tract.

Histogenesis is usually completed by the twentieth day of the embryonic period. From the twentieth to twenty-first day of intrauterine development, the embryo begins to form folds of the body and the chord - the axial organ from which the spinal column will form. By the twenty-fifth day, the formation of the neural and intestinal tubes is completed. The mesoderm cells continue to differentiate intensively, with the formation of tissues of future internal organs, and smooth muscle cells and blood vessels, blood and lymphatic fluid also develop.

Pregnancy period is 3 weeks

The pregnancy period of 3 weeks is a very serious period of intrauterine development of the embryo. During this period of pregnancy development, the psychological attitude of the pregnant woman and healthy nutrition are very important. During this period, the embryonic vesicle (blastocyst), which formed from the fertilized egg, is implanted (fixed) in the endometrium of the uterus and develops intensively.

The blastocyst consists of two layers - the outer one, from which the placenta, umbilical cord and amniotic sac will form, and the inner one - the embryo will form. Considering the laying and the beginning of the formation of tissues of the future organs of the child, it is necessary to properly organize the daily routine, nutrition, give up bad habits and taking medications. This will ensure the health of the future child and the normal course of pregnancy.

Ultrasound at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Ultrasound at 3 weeks of pregnancy is performed using a transvaginal sensor. Using ultrasound, you can find out where the embryo was implanted (in the uterine cavity or ectopically - in the fallopian tubes), i.e. confirm uterine pregnancy and exclude ectopic pregnancy, as well as assess the structure of the endometrium and myometrium of the uterus.

In addition, conducting an ultrasound at an early stage allows us to exclude such a disease as a hydatidiform mole, in which clinical and laboratory signs are observed as in pregnancy, but in the absence of an embryo in the uterus, and instead there is a large number of bubbles, the number of which is constantly growing.

In case of uterine pregnancy, during ultrasound examination at 3 weeks, thickening of the uterine endometrium, sometimes hyperplasia, is noted. The embryo is not yet visible at this stage, it can be seen as a tiny white dot in the cavity of the fertilized egg located in the uterus.

During ultrasound examination of the ovaries, the corpus luteum of pregnancy has a higher vascularization, this is due to significant hormonal activity. Actually, the corpus luteum of pregnancy provides hormonal support for the course of pregnancy until the placenta is formed. At 3 weeks of pregnancy, the corpus luteum can be determined as a cyst on ultrasound.

Fetus at 3 weeks of pregnancy

The fetus in the 3rd week of pregnancy is actively developing and is a collection of cells with certain genetic information. Although at this time it is called an embryo and becomes more complex every day. In the third week of pregnancy, the formation of the neural tube begins, from which the spinal cord and brain will later form. A heart is formed from the bulge in the central area of the embryo. During this period, the placenta begins to form, through which the embryo will receive the necessary nutrients from the mother.

At 3 weeks of pregnancy, the embryo is an egg-shaped formation and consists of the chorion, amnion, and yolk sac, where the future child will form and grow.

On the twenty-first day, the brain and spinal cord begin to form, and the heartbeat appears.

The fetus consists of several hundred cells and once the blastocyst takes up space in the uterus; Week 3 of pregnancy - the start of production of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin, which stops the ovaries from producing eggs and increases the production of estrogen and progesterone (which prevent the rejection of the fetus and stimulate placental growth). Human gonadotropin is the hormone that pregnancy tests are based on. Take a test by the end of this week and it may be positive! (If the test is negative and your period does not start in two or three days, try another test.)

Meanwhile, at 3 weeks of pregnancy, amniotic fluid begins to collect around the fetus. This fluid serves a protective function. The blastocyst now receives oxygen and nutrients (and removes waste products) through a primitive circulatory system. The placenta will be developed enough for this task by the end of next week.

Fruit size

The size of the fetus (embryo) at 3 weeks of pregnancy is very small. Its weight is two to three micrograms, and its height is from 0.15-0.2 mm to 2-4 mm, and it consists of approximately 250 cells. Very soon the size of the embryo will change, and will change constantly, since its cells are constantly dividing, growing, and the embryo itself grows, which will turn into a fetus, and then into a newborn child.

Signs of pregnancy at 3 weeks

Signs of pregnancy at 3 weeks may not be subjectively felt by the pregnant woman, but it can already be determined by ultrasound and by testing blood and/or urine for the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). But the most important and reliable sign of pregnancy is the absence of menstruation. Some women also note changes in their well-being:

  • significant fatigue with normal physical activity,
  • soreness and engorgement of the mammary glands,
  • increased sensitivity to various odors,
  • appetite disorder - increase or absence of appetite,
  • food preferences change,
  • frequent urination,
  • nausea,
  • bowel dysfunction,
  • increase in basal temperature (not less than thirty-seven degrees),
  • there may be a pulling pain in the lower abdomen or in the lumbar region,
  • change in the color of the discharge (may be brown or in the form of a small amount of blood, which is associated with the implantation of the egg).

All signs of pregnancy at 3 weeks that a pregnant woman can feel are associated with hormonal changes in her body.

Feelings at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Sensations in the 3rd week of pregnancy can be very diverse or absent altogether. Dizziness, mood swings, irritability, symptoms of early toxicosis (nausea) are possible. Sometimes there are nagging pains in the lower abdomen and in the lumbar region, which can be associated with a shift in the center of gravity, and also contribute to frequent urination. Quite often, there is an increase, engorgement and increased sensitivity of the mammary glands.

Breasts at 3 weeks of pregnancy

The breasts undergo changes almost first in the 3rd week of pregnancy, as they begin to prepare for feeding. The mammary glands increase in size, become engorged, their sensitivity increases, and slight soreness occurs. Sometimes darkening of the areolas and nipples is noted, although this often occurs at later stages of pregnancy. All changes in the mammary glands usually occur symmetrically.

Uterus at 3 weeks of pregnancy

The uterus at 3 weeks of pregnancy is in the small pelvis, there is no significant increase or change in its consistency at this stage. Changes are noted in its inner layer - the endometrium, where its thickening or hyperplasia is noted.

HCG at 3 weeks of pregnancy

HCG begins to be produced in the 3rd week of pregnancy as soon as the blastocyst has implanted into the uterine endometrium. HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin):

  • notifies the ovaries to stop producing eggs,
  • promotes increased production of hormones - progesterone and estrogen, which prevent the process of rejection of the inner lining of the uterus, promotes the growth of the embryo and the formation of the placenta.

During this period, chorionic gonadotropin can be determined in the blood in the laboratory, and its content in urine is usually two times lower, which can complicate diagnostics using test strips. However, today, there are highly sensitive test strips for hCG, which allows you to determine it in urine at such an early stage.

At this stage, the concentration of human chorionic gonadotropin increases every two to three days.

Progesterone at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Progesterone in the 3rd week of pregnancy is produced in increased quantities by the corpus luteum of pregnancy until the placenta is formed. The function of progesterone in the occurrence and maintenance of pregnancy is great:

  • promotes thickening of the uterine endometrium, due to which the fertilized egg is firmly implanted,
  • stimulates the enlargement of the uterus,
  • promotes relaxation of the uterine myometrium and prevents spontaneous miscarriage,
  • as a result of its action, subcutaneous fat accumulates, which will provide the pregnant woman and the fetus with the necessary nutrients,
  • reduces the function of the immune system, as a result of which the pregnant woman's body does not reject the protein structure with the man's genetic information,
  • prepares muscles and ligaments for labor,
  • enhances the development and growth of mammary glands,
  • takes part in the development of some tissues in the embryo.

The level of progesterone varies in different laboratories and averages 15 Nmol/l. It is necessary to take a blood test to determine the level of progesterone on an empty stomach, not to take hormonal drugs, and also to exclude physical and emotional stress.

Periods at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Menstruation in the 3rd week of pregnancy, when fertilization and implantation of the egg have occurred, usually does not occur. But in the first weeks and months, when the placenta is just developing, insufficient production of hormones that suppress menstruation is possible and at the required time, bloody discharge may occur. Also, the cause of bloody discharge similar to menstruation may be:

  • normally, in some women, implantation of the fertilized egg into the endometrium of the uterus may be accompanied by minor bloody or brown discharge,
  • in the case of a frozen pregnancy, scanty and spotting discharge is observed when the embryo does not develop (dies),
  • bloody discharge may occur if implantation occurred in the fallopian tube,
  • the presence of cervical erosion may also be accompanied by bloody discharge,
  • A gynecological examination may cause minor discharge, but this is not dangerous.

The appearance of discharge similar to menstruation is an urgent reason to visit an obstetrician-gynecologist for consultation and examination in order to prevent undesirable consequences for the pregnant woman and the child.

Bleeding at 3 weeks pregnant

Bleeding in the 3rd week of pregnancy should not be ignored. There is no need to worry too much if the bleeding is not very heavy, short-term, is not accompanied by pain and does not contain tissue fragments. Bleeding that does not pose a danger:

  • Bleeding that occurs as a result of implantation, since the integrity of the uterine endometrium, which is rich in blood vessels, is disrupted.
  • Minor bleeding after intercourse is possible, but is usually not dangerous.
  • The gynecological examination performed the day before may be accompanied by minor bleeding.

You should be concerned about bleeding that is heavy, does not stop, is accompanied by pain or spasm, and also contains tissue fragments. The cause of such bleeding may be:

  • miscarriage,
  • ectopic pregnancy.

If bleeding occurs, you must immediately seek medical help to identify the cause and eliminate it. Self-medication should not be done, as it is dangerous to the health and life of the pregnant woman.

Discharge at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Discharge in the 3rd week of pregnancy is usually not abundant, of a smearing nature, and may often be absent. Discharge can be of different colors - pink, creamy, yellowish or brownish. Bloody discharge may occur in this period due to the implantation of the fertilized egg.

trusted-source[ 6 ], [ 7 ], [ 8 ]

Brown discharge at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Brown discharge in the 3rd week of pregnancy may occur due to the attachment of the fertilized egg to the endometrium of the uterus, in this case such discharge is normal and passes in a few days. But the cause of brown discharge can also be an ectopic or frozen pregnancy, bacterial sexual infections, cervical erosion. In any case, it is better to go to a doctor for a consultation and examination.

Spotting at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Spotting in the 3rd week of pregnancy may be the result of implantation of a fertilized egg into the endometrium of the uterus, which is normal and usually passes after a few days, such discharge is not abundant, may be brownish or bloody and does not cause discomfort.

If the spotting is accompanied by severe pain in the abdomen and lower back, does not go away after a few days, but on the contrary increases and the general condition worsens, you need to urgently contact a doctor. Since this may indicate an ectopic or frozen pregnancy, miscarriage, cervical erosion or bacterial sexually transmitted infections.

Abdominal pain at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Why does the stomach hurt in the 3rd week of pregnancy worries many women. The cause of abdominal pain can be:

  • The onset of ovulation often contributes to abdominal pain. Each woman has a different pain threshold - some feel a slight pain when the egg leaves the ovary, while others may lose consciousness from the pain.
  • Disorders of bowel function (constipation, nutritional disorders).
  • Implantation of a fertilized egg into the endometrium of the uterus can often be accompanied by abdominal pain.
  • Diseases of the urinary system (eg, cystitis).
  • Surgical diseases (for example, appendicitis).
  • Ectopic pregnancy.
  • Threat of spontaneous miscarriage.

Minor abdominal pain that is not accompanied by heavy bleeding should not be of much concern, but it would not hurt to consult a doctor.

If your stomach hurts in the 3rd week of pregnancy

There are many reasons why the stomach hurts at 3 weeks of pregnancy. The most likely reason why the stomach hurts is the attachment of the fertilized egg to the wall of the uterus. In addition, the restructuring of a woman's hormonal background can be accompanied by pulling pains in the stomach. It should be noted that the stomach can hurt:

  • after performing physical activity, even minor ones,
  • due to the threat of termination of pregnancy,
  • in case of ectopic pregnancy,
  • inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity or pelvic organs.

The stomach may be pulled constantly or periodically, depending on the existing problem. If the pulling pain intensifies, does not go away for a long time and is accompanied by bloody discharge, you need to urgently go to the doctor.

Lower back pain at 3 weeks pregnant

The lower back hurts in the 3rd week of pregnancy for various reasons, both as a result of physiological processes that occur in the bone and ligament apparatus during pregnancy, and as a result of pathological processes. The causes of pain can be:

  • From the moment of conception, the ligamentous apparatus of the skeletal system and internal organs begins to prepare for the upcoming birth. The hormone relaxin begins to be produced, due to which the connective tissue structures become looser and more extensible, which makes the pelvic bones more mobile. As a result of such changes, back pain is possible.
  • Possible weight gain creates additional stress on the spine, which can contribute to pain in the lumbar region, especially if the pregnant woman has a spinal pathology (osteochondrosis, scoliosis).
  • Kidney diseases (for example, pyelonephritis). But in this case, the pain in the lower back is accompanied by an increase in temperature, urination problems, and swelling.

The presence of pain in the lumbar region, especially acute pain, with an increase in temperature and the occurrence of bloody discharge, makes it necessary to urgently visit a doctor for examination and testing.

Temperature at 3 weeks of pregnancy

The temperature in the 3rd week of pregnancy can rise to 37.3°C and in the absence of other symptoms (cough, nasal congestion, etc.) should not be a concern. This is common in the early stages of pregnancy and occurs as a result of the acceleration of metabolism and increased production of hormones that promote the growth and development of the fetus (in particular progesterone). Such a temperature usually goes away after a few weeks.

An increase in temperature above 37.8°C, with chills, weakness, pain of various localizations and other symptoms, may indicate the presence of an inflammatory process in the body. This may be a cold or another disease of the internal organs (for example, appendicitis, pyelonephritis, etc.). In this situation, you must urgently seek help from a doctor, since self-medication is extremely dangerous for both the pregnant woman and the unborn child.

A high temperature (above 38°C) that is not brought down for a long time can negatively affect the development of the embryo, since in the 3rd week all organs and systems are laid down (central nervous system, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, musculoskeletal system, etc.). In addition, a high temperature can provoke a miscarriage.

Nausea at 3 weeks pregnant

Nausea in the 3rd week of pregnancy can occur in half of pregnant women during this period, after the implantation of the fertilized egg has occurred. Usually, nausea occurs in the morning on an empty stomach and goes away after eating, so such women are advised to eat a piece of bread in the morning without getting out of bed and drink water. Some may experience nausea for half a day or the whole day, sometimes it can be accompanied by vomiting. Recommendations that can help eliminate nausea:

  • eat little and often,
  • start having breakfast without getting out of bed, and then lie down for about fifteen minutes,
  • eat high-calorie foods (but not fatty ones) and preferably chilled ones,
  • eat more solid foods for breakfast,
  • drink enough water throughout the day in small amounts.

If nausea does not go away, but on the contrary increases every day and is accompanied by constant vomiting, then you need to seek medical help.

Cold at 3 weeks of pregnancy

A cold in the 3rd week of pregnancy is not uncommon, since in the early stages of pregnancy, a decrease in immunity is observed. If a cold occurs, it is better to immediately seek help from a doctor to prevent the progression of a viral infection and the occurrence of pregnancy complications. Self-medication is not worth it, since many drugs are not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the early stages, when organs are being laid down.

As a rule, a cold that occurs without a rise in temperature is not dangerous, it becomes dangerous at a high temperature. Therefore, during pregnancy, especially in the early stages, you should protect yourself from the occurrence of a cold:

  • during the epidemic of respiratory viral infections, avoid large crowds of people,
  • if someone in your immediate environment has fallen ill with an acute respiratory viral infection, you must wear a mask, or better yet, isolate that person in another room,
  • it is necessary to frequently ventilate the room where the pregnant woman is, especially during the epidemic season,
  • rinse the nasal passages with saline solution (Aqua Maris, Humor),
  • maintain a sleep and wakefulness regime,
  • spend more time outdoors,
  • the diet should be balanced with sufficient content of proteins, vegetables and fruits, micro- and macroelements,
  • Take vitamins for pregnant women if necessary (Pregnavit, Vitrum prenatal).

These measures can be carried out not only to prevent colds, but also when they occur.

trusted-source[ 21 ], [ 22 ]

Toxicosis in the 3rd week of pregnancy

Toxicosis in the 3rd week of pregnancy occurs in some women after the fertilized egg is fixed in the endometrium of the uterus. Toxicosis is possible until the placenta is formed. Since the placenta is still absent in the 3rd week, the woman's body is not protected from the entry of embryonic metabolic products into her blood, which causes intoxication in the woman. In addition, the cause of toxicosis is a change in the woman's hormonal background and genetic predisposition. That is, if the mother of a pregnant woman suffered from toxicosis, then she will also experience toxicosis.

The occurrence of toxicosis during the first pregnancy is more likely; with each subsequent pregnancy, its manifestations decrease or are absent.

Toxicosis is most often manifested by nausea and vomiting, and such symptoms as intolerance to certain smells and/or food are also possible. In the case of mild toxicosis, nausea passes after breakfast or after half a day and is rarely accompanied by vomiting. In severe cases, nausea is constant throughout the day, does not pass after eating and is accompanied by repeated vomiting. In this case, you should immediately seek medical help.

To relieve toxicosis, you need to have solid food for breakfast without getting out of bed, eat small portions of high-calorie (but not fatty) food throughout the day, mostly solid food, it is better to eat chilled food and drink enough water.

Antibiotics in 3 weeks of pregnancy

Antibiotics in the 3rd week of pregnancy are extremely undesirable and even dangerous for the future child, since at this stage all organs and systems are being laid down. The consequences of taking antibiotics can be severe, in particular - the birth of a sick child, since it is unknown what organ or system may be damaged by taking an antibiotic.

Antibiotics in early pregnancy are prescribed strictly by a doctor, after assessing the possible risk to the embryo and its benefit to the pregnant woman. Antibacterial drugs at this stage are prescribed in the following cases:

  • pyelonephritis in pregnant women,
  • septic conditions and purulent processes of internal organs (pneumonia, abscess, etc.),
  • for bacterial sexually transmitted infections (trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, chlamydia),
  • in case of complications of viral infections.

Antibiotics are not used to treat viral infections (in particular colds, acute respiratory viral infections, flu), since they are active against bacteria.

Of course, there are antibiotics that are allowed for pregnant women, but the 3rd week of pregnancy is an extremely unfavorable period for taking antibacterial drugs.

Ectopic pregnancy at 3 weeks

An ectopic pregnancy at 3 weeks, as a rule, manifests itself with the same signs as a normal one (when the embryo is in the uterine cavity). Namely:

  • delayed menstruation,
  • increase in basal temperature,
  • engorgement and increased sensitivity of the mammary glands,
  • nausea, weakness are possible,
  • mood swings, etc.

The causes of ectopic pregnancy are diseases of the female reproductive system that interfere with the normal passage of the egg through the fallopian tubes:

  • bacterial sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, etc.), which cause an inflammatory process in the fallopian tubes, followed by narrowing of their lumen and deformation. As a result, the fertilized egg cannot pass into the uterine cavity and is implanted in the fallopian tube, and as the embryo grows, it can rupture it, which is very dangerous for the woman,
  • previous surgical interventions on abdominal organs or pelvic organs that contribute to the development of adhesions.

The risk group for the development of an ectopic pregnancy includes:

  • women who smoke (their risk of ectopic pregnancy is 3.5 times higher),
  • women who have an intrauterine device (an ectopic pregnancy develops one and a half times more often, according to statistics),
  • age over 35 – 45 years (the risk of developing an ectopic pregnancy is three to four times higher).

What should alert you to an ectopic pregnancy:

  • Sharp or severely pulling pain in the lower abdomen, possibly on one side (right or left),
  • Bloody or brown discharge that does not resemble menstruation,
  • Painful intercourse.

An ectopic pregnancy is a very dangerous condition, as it can cause a rupture of the tube, which is clinically manifested by:

  • severe bleeding,
  • acute pain in the abdomen,
  • loss of consciousness,
  • pallor of the skin.

Considering the formidable complications of an ectopic pregnancy, at the slightest suspicion of it, it is necessary to immediately go to the doctor.

Frozen pregnancy at 3 weeks

A frozen pregnancy can develop due to various reasons:

  • physical or mental overstrain,
  • bad habits (drinking alcohol, smoking),
  • use of drugs,
  • prolonged insolation,
  • Rhesus conflict,
  • genetic or chromosomal diseases of the embryo that are incompatible with life,
  • multiple abortions performed previously.

At 3 weeks of pregnancy, it is difficult to determine a frozen pregnancy on your own, since the signs of pregnancy remain the same - no menstruation, enlarged and sensitive mammary glands. A frozen pregnancy may be indicated by:

  • bloody discharge,
  • if you were already bothered by toxicosis at this stage, then when it stops, it stops,
  • severe pain in the abdomen and lower back appeared,
  • the temperature rose to high levels for no reason.

Therefore, if a woman experiences symptoms that are unclear to her, she should immediately contact a doctor and undergo an ultrasound examination, since only with its help can a frozen pregnancy be determined. Signs of a frozen pregnancy on ultrasound:

  • the presence of an empty fertilized egg that does not contain an embryo.

Miscarriage at 3 weeks of pregnancy

A miscarriage at 3 weeks of pregnancy is manifested by bloody discharge, abdominal pain, and a possible increase in temperature. The color of the bloody discharge can vary from bright red to dark brown. Women who did not know about the pregnancy may even confuse a miscarriage with menstruation.

The most common causes of early miscarriage are disruptions in the development of the embryo at the genetic level, as well as due to the woman’s bad habits and after stress or significant physical exertion.

A miscarriage does not happen all at once, usually this process lasts for several hours or even days. If a woman knows about her pregnancy or if her condition suddenly worsens with the appearance of bloody discharge from the genital tract, she must immediately go to the doctor.

How to terminate pregnancy at 3 weeks?

Some women who for some reason cannot maintain a pregnancy are interested in the question: how to terminate a pregnancy at 3 weeks? To terminate a pregnancy, you must seek medical advice from an obstetrician-gynecologist; it is not recommended to deal with this issue on your own. Since only an experienced specialist can assess the condition of the pregnant woman and choose a method of terminating the pregnancy.

As a rule, at this stage, a medical abortion is offered, which is the safest and has minimal consequences for the woman's body. Carrying out a medical abortion does not require the woman to be hospitalized, it is only necessary to take the appropriate tests and undergo an ultrasound examination. The procedure of a medical abortion is quite serious and should not be taken lightly. Only an experienced doctor can correctly calculate the dosage of the drug for a woman. Incorrect doses of the drug can lead to an incomplete abortion or negatively affect the woman's health.

The following drugs are used for medical abortion: Mifolian, Mifeprex, Pencrofton, Mefigin, Mifepristone, Postinor. These drugs act directly on the fertilized egg, which separates from the uterine endometrium and is released with bleeding. After a medical abortion, the woman must undergo an additional examination in 24 hours to rule out an incomplete abortion and receive the necessary recommendations for further medication and lifestyle.

Taking medications for medical abortion may be accompanied by nausea, weakness, headache, and absent-mindedness. Some women do not feel anything, which depends on individual tolerance of the drug.

Termination of pregnancy at early stages is also possible using vacuum aspiration or surgery. But such methods are more dangerous for the woman, as more complications may arise, such as inflammation, abscess, infertility, etc.

Postinor at 3 weeks of pregnancy

Postinor will be effective in the 3rd week of pregnancy if the implantation of the fertilized egg has not yet occurred. If implantation has already occurred, Postinor will not be effective. The manufacturer states that Postinor can terminate pregnancy in 85% of cases before implantation. The earlier the drug is taken after unprotected intercourse, the higher its effectiveness. No negative effects of Postinor on the embryo have been noted.

Sex at 3 weeks pregnant

Sex in the 3rd week of pregnancy will even be useful, especially for the mental health of the woman, especially since sexual desire increases during this period. There is also a positive psychological component, that now you can not use protection. It is very important to maintain intimate hygiene before and after sex, this applies to both partners. Of course, if there is a threat of miscarriage, bloody discharge, pain in the abdomen and lower back, then it is better to refrain from having sex until the pregnant woman's condition stabilizes. In addition, the presence of bacterial sexually transmitted infections in the partner is also a contraindication to having sex.
