Chapping and peeling in the cold in the winter, overdrying on hot summer days, harmful ultraviolet radiation, exhaust gases, dirt and dust. All this has a very negative effect on the condition of the skin. What to do in these situations? How to preserve the youth of such demanding skin? In our article, we will tell you how to care for this type of skin and give an example of universal recipes for masks for dry facial skin.
Recipes for masks for dry skin
All skin types need moisturizing, especially dry skin. Therefore, you need to regularly make masks at home. They will not only perfectly nourish the skin, but also smooth out fine wrinkles, vitaminize and give an even tone to your skin.
To get a good mask for dry skin, you need to follow the rules for making it, aimed at its maximum effectiveness. Basically, masks for nourishing and moisturizing the skin should consist of:
- base that acts as a moisturizer;
- an active component that acts as a saturation agent with useful substances;
- binding component (if required);
- specialized component (if required).
Key Moisturizing Components in Masks for Dry Skin
Nourishing daily cream. It is better to use a rich, well-absorbed cream that you use daily. Based on it, you can make healing masks, vitamin masks, anti-aging masks, and so on.
Heavy cream. To prepare the most effective masks for dry skin, it is ideal to use cream of at least 30%. It is great to combine natural plant components with cream. Thanks to the combination of natural fats and fruits, you can maximize the absorption of vitamins into the epidermis.
Olive oil. It contains vitamin E and perfectly retains moisture in the epidermis, due to which it helps to instantly smooth out wrinkles and improve skin elasticity. Olive oil is hypoallergenic, affordable and easy to use. For use as a component of masks for dry skin, you need to use extra virgin olive oil, as it contains the most useful substances for skin care.
Grape seed oil. This oil will perfectly nourish sensitive, delicate, inflammation-prone skin. It has a bactericidal property, and also starts the process of active regeneration of the epidermis. It can also be used for skin that has lost its youth in anti-aging therapy.
Aloe Vera Oil. This oil is perfect as a main component of masks for dry facial skin before, during and after tanning, as well as for sunburn. Cocoa butter. This oil is perfect as a base for masks for dry skin in winter. It creates an invisible film that protects the epidermis from aggressive environmental factors. Cocoa butter deeply nourishes, restores damaged skin, and also has the ability to smooth out fine wrinkles. This oil is ideal not only for women, but also for small children, as it is completely hypoallergenic.
Almond oil. This oil is ideal as a base for a mask before bed. Almond oil practically does not dry out, so its properties are not limited to the time of direct action on the skin. It perfectly moisturizes and tones the skin, thanks to which in the morning the face will look well-groomed and rested.
The main active ingredients used in the preparation of masks for dry skin
Sandalwood essential oil. It has a very strong calming effect, increases blood flow to the epidermis, which has a beneficial effect on its nutrition. It increases the skin's ability to absorb nutrients, and also has an antiseptic property. Sandalwood essential oil is very good for skin prone to acne.
Patchouli essential oil. It has a very strong tightening effect, making it ideal for skin with wide open pores. It will even out facial contours and increase skin elasticity. Patchouli oil is also known for its ability to tighten old scars when used regularly.
Jasmine essential oil. It has a strong rejuvenating effect, due to which it is used for aging dry skin of the face. It has a calming property. Jasmine essential oil is excellent for skin diseases such as neurodermatitis and eczema.
Rose essential oil. The most expensive and richest in useful substances oil. It has a very strong anti-aging effect, anti-allergic effect, and also has a bactericidal property. Myrrh essential oil. Has protective properties against aggressive environmental factors. Provides excellent hydration, restoration and prevents premature aging of the skin.

Binding components of masks for dry skin
If the mask turns out to be very liquid, you can add binding components to it, which will give it a mushy appearance.
Cosmetic clay. Perfectly cleanses pores, soothes skin, evens out skin tone. Neutral blue clay is best.
Ground oat flakes. Very good for deep pore cleansing. Has a lifting property, smoothing out small expression wrinkles.
Dry mustard. Strongly tones the skin due to its ability to bring blood to the epidermis. The mustard mask should be used for a short time (no more than 3-5 minutes). But even during this time, it will perfectly facilitate the absorption of useful substances from the active ingredients.
Specialized components of masks for dry skin
Such components can be vitamin E. It can be found in pharmacies (in the form of gelatin capsules), which need to be squeezed into the main component of the mask and used as an antioxidant.

Masks for dry skin prepared at home simply cannot be compared with any even the most high-tech inventions of cosmetology. They are completely natural, safe and incredibly useful. In order to get the maximum benefit from the cosmetic procedure, you need to remember a few rules, namely:
- the mask should be applied in the evening to skin previously cleansed of makeup, dust and dirt;
- It is advisable to wash your face only in the evening, since if you have dry skin, you risk washing off the entire protective layer in the morning;
- the ideal water temperature for washing should be 20-22 degrees, it is advisable to use settled or filtered water rather than running water;
- do not use products containing alcohol, it dries the skin even more;
- apply the mask with circular massage movements, this way you will increase the blood flow to the epidermis and the skin will receive more nutrients;
- to enhance the moisturizing effect, you can cover the skin with a special plastic film and apply a warm compress to the face;
- If you use essential oils as active ingredients, remember that you only need to add 3-5 drops per teaspoon of the main ingredient, so you will avoid allergic reactions or irritation of sensitive skin.
