After completing the course of injections, we invite the patient for a follow-up visit in 2 weeks to evaluate the facial lines and the results of the toxin. New photographs are taken and the patient and the doctor evaluate them again on the scale. If the patient is still concerned about the hyperfunctional folds, the toxin can be injected again. The dose and location of additional toxin injections should be determined based on the severity and location of the hyperfunction. The doses and injection sites are noted in the outpatient chart. If the muscles are adequately relaxed and an attractive facial contour has been achieved, the patient is asked to come back when the facial folds become visible and unacceptable again. This usually happens after 4-6 months. In patients who have been treated several times, the effect of Botox seems to be longer lasting, possibly due to a change in their attitude towards their appearance.
