It is necessary to get rid of the cracks that have appeared and as quickly as possible. What to do in this case? First of all, eliminate the provoking factors - water, contact with detergents, cold air, in short - take care of your hands.

In the presence of painful and deep cracks, as a first aid, it is recommended to fix their edges with medical glue BF-6 based on phenol-formaldehyde resin and rosin. The glue has a wound-healing and bactericidal effect, and the film it creates, which is sufficiently elastic and resistant to mechanical and chemical factors, reliably protects wounds from secondary infection.

The glue can be used starting from the age of one year. The skin must be clean and dry before applying it. The glue is spread in a thin layer on the crack from edge to edge and left to dry for about five minutes. The layer of glue applied in this way stays on the skin, according to the instructions, for two to three days. During the first week, no other treatment of cracks is required. Undamaged but dry areas of the hand can be lubricated with nourishing hand cream.

After a week, you can use hand creams, masks, baths and folk remedies on the entire surface of your hands.

To treat damage, you can use the following ointments and creams for cracks between the fingers with a healing effect:

  1. Apilak ointment based on royal jelly (a secretion product of the glands of worker bees). It is a biostimulator of metabolic processes - it accelerates metabolism and blood supply in the epidermis, which promotes cellular renewal and restoration of skin integrity. It is not recommended for people sensitized to bee products. It can be used to treat patients from the age of two. Pregnancy is not a contraindication for the use of the ointment. Wounds are treated once or twice a day.
  2. Bepanten and other preparations based on dexpanthenol, which, when absorbed into the skin, is converted into vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid, without which the processes of cellular metabolism do not fully occur. Skin regeneration and the strength of its collagen fibers are accelerated. Can be used from birth. The only contraindication for use is individual sensitivity to the ingredients of the ointment. Can be applied several times a day to clean and dry areas of the fingers with cracks.
  3. Solcoseryl is a gel (ointment) based on a protein-free extract of young cattle blood. It is an activator of granulation processes, as it stimulates cellular respiration and nutrition at the site of application. Slightly relieves pain. No contraindications or side effects have been identified. It is applied twice a day, the ointment on dry wounds, the gel on bleeding wounds.
  4. The combined ointment Methyluracil with Miramistin is a combination of a metabolism stimulator with a cationic antiseptic. The ointment has not only a regenerating effect, but also an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. It is effective for poorly healing cracks. It is not used in patients with leukemia, lymphoid tissue tumors and spinal cord. It is contraindicated in patients sensitized to the ingredients. It can cause hyperemia, itching and other reactions at the site of application. Cracks are treated once a day.
  5. Festering cracks on the fingers can be treated with Levomekol ointment, which is a combination of the metabolic stimulant Methyluracil with the antibiotic Chloramphenicol, which is active against most pyogenic bacteria. The ointment also has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is not used for mycosis, psoriasis, eczema. It is indicated for patients from the age of three, pregnant and lactating women can use it only for strict medical reasons. Long-term treatment (more than four days) with this ointment is not practiced, since it can damage healthy cells of surrounding tissues.
  6. In mild, not neglected cases with small cracks, cosmetic hand creams with a healing effect are sufficient: the brand "Green Pharmacy" - sea buckthorn, with celandine and linden blossom, "Velvet Hands" with sea buckthorn oil, liquid hand cream OOO Amalgama Lux (also known as Nikolaev PKK "Scarlet Sails").
  7. Antiseptic cream "Boro-plus" helps with contact dermatitis, heals cracks in the skin, relieves irritation, prevents infection and can cope with associated fungal and bacterial infections to a mild degree.
  8. Veterinary cream of Russian production "Zorka", judging by reviews, heals cracks well and copes with dry hands. It is recommended even by patients suffering from psoriasis. The cream is made on a natural plant basis. Among its components are floralisin (extracted mushroom mycelium), enzymes that help strengthen collagen fibers, fatty acids.

When choosing creams for the treatment of cracked dry skin between the fingers, you need to pay attention to their composition and give preference to products containing sea buckthorn, olive, chamomile, almond, carrot oil; extracts of propolis, chamomile, plantain, grape seeds; vitamins for cracks between the fingers - A, B5 (pantothenic acid), E, F.

Special products used for fungal diseases, atopic dermatitis, allergic reactions, psoriasis, eczema are prescribed by a doctor after establishing an accurate diagnosis.

A hand mask made from mashed potatoes with milk has a softening and healing effect: boil the potatoes and mash them in milk to a consistency that will stick to your hands. Apply the warm, but not hot, puree to your hand or finger, cover with cling film. Leave for a third of an hour. Rinse and apply moisturizing cream.

Yolk cream: grind one egg yolk with vegetable oil and vinegar (a tablespoon each). Apply this mixture to your hands at night and put on cotton gloves. If you do not do the procedure before bed, the mixture should remain on your hands for at least an hour. Store the cream in the refrigerator for no more than five days. Then make a new batch.

Compresses with cedar oil are applied to cracks on the fingers for 15-20 minutes. If the crack on one finger is small, drop some oil on a cotton pad and hold it on the crack. If the entire hand is covered in small cracks, you can soak a napkin in oil and wrap your hand.

The yolk of one chicken egg is ground with the juice of one lemon and a glass of sour cream. The hands are smeared with this mixture, wrapped in a napkin and cling film, covered with a blanket, towel or scarf. The compress is done for 15-20 minutes.

Herbal treatment can be effective for cracks between the fingers. Various herbs are used, most often celandine, chamomile, burdock.

It is recommended to soak your hands in a medicinal chamomile infusion for about ten minutes several times a day. Such baths go well with compresses, for example, from mashed potatoes.

You can make hand cream with celandine: pour a handful of crushed celandine into an enamel pan, pour a glass of sunflower oil over the herb and bring it all to a boil. Remove, cool and add a piece of beeswax about 4x4x1 cm in size. Put on low heat and melt, stirring constantly, until the wax becomes liquid.
